Privacy Policy

Aether collects no personal data. There is no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising network, and no third-party SDK that transmits information about you. Everything the app does — painting clouds, computing the sky, rendering — happens on your iPhone.

Data we do not collect

Aether does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following on any server we control or contract:

• Your name, email address, phone number, or any account identifier.
• The skies you paint or the .aether files you save.
• Your device's IP address, advertising identifier, or location.
• Crash reports, usage analytics, or telemetry of any kind.
• Any data Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework would consider tracking.

Aether does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt because it does not track you.

What stays on your device

The clouds you paint, the landscape, time and view you choose, and the .aether files you save exist only in the app's sandbox and in the destinations you choose through the system share sheet (Files, Messages, AirDrop, and so on). Aether has no mechanism to read them back, sync them, or share them on your behalf.

An .aether file is self-contained: it holds the landscape, your strokes, and the place and instant, so the exact image can be recomputed on your device. It is never uploaded anywhere by Aether.

System permissions

The system will ask your consent before Aether can use the following:

• Location (Core Location) — requested only if you choose “here and now” to anchor the sky to where you actually are. Your coordinate is used solely on the device, to compute the apparent positions of the sun, moon, and stars. It is never transmitted, stored on a server, or shared. You can skip this entirely and use the curated places instead.

Aether does not request access to your camera, photo library, microphone, or contacts — it has no use for them. You can review or revoke location access at any time in Settings → Aether on iOS.

Network

Aether ships its landscapes, its star catalogue, and a fixed weather mood for each curated scene inside the app. Painting, lighting, and rendering need no network connection and the app works fully offline. If a future version adds an optional online feature, this policy and the app's release notes will say so before it ships.

Third parties

Aether embeds no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or tracking SDKs. The app does not contact any network endpoint operated by us or by anyone else for any purpose.

If you choose to share a saved sky via the iOS share sheet, the destination app (Files, Messages, Mail, and so on) handles the content under its own privacy policy from that point on.

The app's About screen offers a few links (this website, the source code on GitHub, the App Store). Tapping one simply opens it in Safari or the App Store app; Aether itself makes no request and sends nothing.

The same screen offers three optional tips, sold as in-app purchases. They unlock nothing. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store: we receive no name, email address, or payment detail, and the app keeps no record of the purchase.

Children

Aether is suitable for all ages. Because no personal data is collected, there is no information about children, or anyone else, to retain, share, or delete on a server.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Because Aether does not collect personal data, there is no data for us to access, rectify, port, restrict, or erase on your behalf. To delete everything Aether has stored, delete the app — iOS removes its sandbox.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and post the revised version at the same URL. Substantive changes (anything that would alter what data is processed) will be reflected in a release note for the corresponding app update.
